Beth Moore Explains Why Your Self-Loathing Is Actually Egocentric

Share:

Author and speaker Beth Moore says people can easily mistake self-hate for humility. Negative self-talk can feel like a version of putting others before ourselves, but in reality, it dishonors the God who made us.

“Sometimes we confuse self-loathing with humility, and they are not the same thing,” Moore says. “… Another form of being completely ego-driven is that I’m completely obsessed with my own self because I hate myself so much. It is of no honor to God to hate self. … Humility is realizing the prize that God has made you by His grace and that there is nothing you could have done to earn it.”
