Dr. Negiel Bigpond Accepts National Apology to Native Americans Ahead of National Day of Prayer

In 2009, former United States Sen. Sam Brownback played a leading role in the passing of a bill, signed by then-President Barack Obama, that issued a formal apology to Native Americans for past hurts and violence inflicted.

The apology is set to be read in an official capacity to the Native American tribes during the National Day of Prayer on May 6, a copy of which was sent to Native American pastor and author Dr. Negiel Bigpond, who issued a video response ahead of the event.

He prayed all Native Americans would hear and respond with forgiveness.

“My prayer is that all my people would receive this apology and that all this nation would see the significance of it. My prayer for this nation is that it would release healing,” Bigpond said.

He prayed, “So Father God, I just thank You. And I come with a good heart, and I pray peace over this land. I pray healing over the land: Healing over our nation, healing over all people. [I pray] that one day we’ll all come together as one in the name of Yeshua Hamashiach, our Lord and Savior. Amen.” {eoa}
