Top of the Week: Francis Chan Responds to Leaders Leaving the Church
The following are the top stories featured in the past week on cn.mycharisma.com:
In Wake of Leaders Leaving the Faith, Frances Chan Calls Churches to Sacredness
While many faith leaders are discussing how to best lead their church in a post-COVID era, Francis Chan addressed the Exponential Reset Summit with a call to sacredness and a return to worship. He says this is vital, especially in light of many high-profile Christians leaving the church in recent days.
“I am seeing so many people, friends of mine who were in ministry, who are just saying they don’t believe, or they’re walking away,” says Chan. “And I just think that’s crazy. We’re seeing people that we look up to, leaders, fall. We’re seeing the world look at evangelical Christianity as an absolute joke right now. Every day you can just jump on Instagram … and someone is saying, ‘I’m not a Christian anymore.'”
Kevin Sorbo: Facebook Deleted My Page Because I’m a Conservative Christian
When Facebook deleted Christian actor Kevin Sorbo’s page, the giant tech conglomerate said it was because he was spreading debunked information about COVID-19. They also claimed to have given him two fair warnings before pulling the plug on his account.
“That’s not true,” Sorbo says.
On this episode of FaithWorks podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network, Sorbo shares a different version of the story—one in which he took down every post Facebook asked him to yet was still punished.
Can You Be Spirit-Filled Without Speaking in Tongues?
I was raised old-school charismatic style! I grew up with my parents playing Kenneth Copeland’s cassette tapes in our beat-up car radio on the way to work. (Anyone else remember saving an unraveled cassette with a pencil in hand, after a cheap radio attacked it?) I can still hear the familiar crackle as that radio belted out the principles we lived by every day.
Friday nights were family prayer times. Everyone got together to tarry until the power came. Anyone who is following me here knows this one thing: Speaking in tongues was part and parcel of the charismatic circle. Truthfully, you never felt like you had arrived until you could join in the crescendo of passionate tongues as praise and worship came to an end during Sunday morning service.
You can well imagine then how stuck I felt being one of the only family members who just never got Spirit-filled.
State Government Bullying: ‘Make No Mistake, This Is a Second Holocaust’
Thousands of Orange County residents publicly made their outrage known about the objective of a mandatory vaccination and exploitation of their children by public school and county officials. As a result, both the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the Orange County Board of Education passed resolutions last week by a 4-1 margin, halting local government and bureaucratic encroachment and overreach under the aegis of vaccinations and digital vaccine passports.
Orange County human rights attorney Leigh Dundas addressed in no uncertain terms the despotic hectoring and blue state government bullying: “Make no mistake, this a second holocaust, my friends. Hitler did not start by burning people in ovens; that’s where he ended. The first thing he did to consolidate power is that he closed ‘nonessential’ businesses, as did Gov. Newsom in my state [California]. The second thing he did was to close schools because they are the heart of the family.
Chip, Joanna Gaines Attacked Online for Donation to Sister’s School Board Campaign
Home renovation stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have come under fire online for a donation the couple made toward a family member’s campaign for a local school board.
Chip donated $1,000 to his sister, Shannon Braun, to support her run for a spot on the board of the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District, per The Dallas Morning News.
When media got wind of the gift, critics sounded off against the Christian couple, alleging the monetary donation directly supported Braun’s views on critical race theory (the idea that racism is a social construct embedded in systems and policies). In a recent campaign post, Braun condemned the theory, saying the focus will be instead on a return of teaching “academics.” {eoa}
