Martin Luther King Jr.’s Niece, Alveda King, Goes on the Offensive

Evangelist Alveda King, an outspoken opponent of abortion for many years, has announced the launch of a new pro-life organization, Speak for Life, whose vision is to “mobilize generations of pro-life advocates that will boldly speak for life.”

King’s dedication to the pro-life movement is especially crucial right now with several state pro-life heartbeat bills hanging in the balance, including the one in Texas that has already passed but is being challenged in the courts. A potentially nation-transforming case, Dobbs vs. Jackson, will be heard by the Supreme Court in December.

King is dedicated to eradicating this atrocity—abortion—from the cultural landscape.

“For over half my life, I’ve been speaking on behalf of unborn babies,” King says. “As I celebrated my 70th birthday this year, I renewed my commitment to God to spend the rest of my life speaking for life, from the womb to the tomb. I will commit the remainder of my life to building this organization.”

King has developed a huge platform from which to speak. She has her own talk show on Fox Nation titled “Alveda King’s House,” and she wrote a book in 2008 titled, How Can the Dream Survive if We Murder the Children: ABORTION IS NOT A CIVIL RIGHT!

King recently retired from Priests for Life to pursue her own personal ministry goals. During her tenure, she helped launch the ministry Civil Rights for the Unborn.

“We cannot be silent,” King told Stephen Strang on a recent episode of the Strang Report podcast. “We must speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves. As we speak out about life, people can change their hearts. When that happens, we know we are about the work of the Lord.”

Speak for Life is only a few weeks old, but it is already gaining a great deal of momentum. King will be traveling around the nation, speaking on college campuses and training up new generations for the pro-life movement.

“In order to finally see the atrocity of abortion ended, we must all come together,” King says. This simply cannot be my fight. It must be a concerted effort of all who value life. We will be inviting people to come to the website and I will be speaking digitally as well as going out into the public and inviting people to join us. We need to share the idea of the sanctity and dignity of human life with others. We have to keep this message going among the millennials, which is very important. We’re going to spread it all over social media and hopefully have some great teaching and conversations by Zoom.”

Ben Carson, the former Secretary of HUD and chairman and founder of the American Cornerstone Institute, applauds King’s efforts to help save the lives on the unborn.

“Dr. Alveda King is the epitome of compassion, thoughtfulness, integrity and grit,” Carson says. “These leadership qualities are needed in a time such as this when so many precious souls perish due to abortion. I can think of nobody better to help combat this genocide than Alveda. She doesn’t promote life just before birth., but afterwards as well—which is something we should all take note of in America.” {eoa}
