Viewers were shocked last weekend to find a commercial for the new series “Little Demon” while watching the LSU-Texas A&M football game.

The show’s focus is a woman, voiced by “Parks and Rec” alum Aubrey Plaza, who was impregnated by Satan, voiced by Danny DeVito. This leads to their daughter, the Antichrist in the show called ‘Chrissy,’ to go on a series of adventures to discover how to live life as Satan’s daughter.

As expected, many have taken issue with the adult, and heretical, subject matter of the new program. The group One Million Moms issued an “urgent warning” in regard to the show’s nudity, profanity, explicit graphic violence and how the show “makes light of hell and the dangers of the demonic realm.”

The show debuted on FXX, a basic cable channel owned by Walt Disney Television through FX networks. FXX is designed to target younger audiences, with their primary demographic being 18-34. The series also streams on Disney-owned Hulu the day after airing on FXX.

What is even more concerning for some parents is the prospect of Disney porting this series over to Disney+, which many have stated will cause them to cancel their subscription. The show is currently slated to begin streaming on Disney+ Sept. 21 in Australia and New Zealand. Although there have been no announcements about other regions having this series on Disney+, it is expected that the show will migrate to other regions soon.

While demonic oriented, animated shows are nothing new, this new series continues in the footsteps of adult animation attacking Christianity in increasingly grotesque fashion. This is in large part thanks to executive producer Dan Harmon. Harmon is co-creator of the hit adult animated show “Rick and Morty.” Now in its sixth season, the protagonists of “Rick and Morty” routinely curse God and make fun of people of faith, while making the character ‘Rick’s’ atheism seem logical and preferable.

Disney has copied both the writing and animation style of “Rick and Morty,” which airs on Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” in hopes of creating their own hit show. While “Rick and Morty” focuses on sci-fi based adventures, “Little Demon” has taken the path of focusing on supernatural storylines of evil.

The show also continues the ongoing assault on the nuclear family. By creating Satan as just trying to be a good dad, and exploring a mother-daughter relationship with the Antichrist, the creators hold a twisted view of what God has called a family to be. The actual description for the show says:

“13 years after being impregnated by Satan, a reluctant mother, Laura, and her Antichrist daughter, Chrissy, attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul.”

Another arc that the series is trying to normalize is paganism. Lead voice actor Aubrey Plaza said during an interview at ComiCon, she loves “that we are normalizing paganism. Laura is a pagan. She’s a witch. She’s jacked. She’s got to protect her daughter from demons. And she’s got to get her house in order. And so, the combination of that is really fun.”{eoa}
