‘Jesus, Please Help Me!’ Plea Saves Woman’s Life
A Texas woman’s plea to Jesus saved her life during a freak accident. The answer also came in an unprecedented manner, too.
Fox News reported that Peggy Jones was attacked by a 3-to-4-foot-long snake while on her tractor mowing her lawn. The reptile, however, didn’t slither up onto the tractor from the ground. Instead, it fell out of the sky and clutched onto Jones’ right arm, spewing what may have been venom at her.
“As [I’m] trying to sling it off, he’s striking me in my face,” Jones said to Fox. “He hit my glasses a couple of times. I could feel the pressure of the hit. He’s not coming off. It’s like he’s glued onto my arm.”
It was in this moment that Jones called onto the name of the Lord for help against her foe.
“I was just saying, ‘Jesus, please help me. Help me Jesus,'” Jones said.
During this entirely bizarre ordeal, God provided an answer to Jones’ plea: a hawk flew down and captured the snake.
The hawk battered Jones’ body, but it was able to snatch the reptile away.
Jones went with her family to the emergency room for her wounds, which doctors believed were from the hawk. Jones confirmed that her pain did not resemble that of a snake bite.
“I’m just thankful that I’m alive, and I’m here to tell my story,” Jones said.
In some ways, Jones’ story parallels that of the apostle Paul’s when he was bitten by a viper on his hand, and yet, he was left unharmed (Acts 28:3-5). Her experience and her cry out to God shows that although studies prove that those who pray tend to have better mental wellness, the power of prayer doesn’t stop there. One is not required to be long-winded to receive an answer from the Lord. He does, and He will, answer even the shortest of prayers and provide protection against the evil in this world.
Psalm 66:20 says, “Blessed be God, who has not turned away my prayer, nor His mercy from me.” God hears the prayers of His people, and He is merciful and just to answer them.
Whether a prayer is long and full of specifications or short and to the point, there is nothing that gets past the Lord of all creation. {eoa}
