Man in the Mirror Launches Major Growth Initiative

Man in the Mirror, the pioneering ministry to men Dr. Patrick Morley started 25 years ago, is beating the expansion drum. The men’s ministry is looking to hire 330 full-time area directors. The goal is to help thousands of churches throughout the country to disciple 1 million men by 2015—and 10 million men by the end of 2020.

“For several years we’ve been working hard to offer men a viable career path in men’s ministry,” Morley explains. “This is our attempt at putting boots on the ground to consult, train and equip churches to be more effective at discipling their guys.”

With many companies and organizations shuttering or cutting back in the wake of America’s economic crisis, Morley and his team hope this new opportunity will appeal to a wide range of professionals who are surrendered to Christ, love the church, are passionate about reaching men with the gospel, and have a deep commitment to discipleship.

While churches want to disciple men, most haven’t been able to keep men’s discipleship as a high ongoing priority, adds Morley, who 25 years ago started teaching a weekly men’s Bible study in Orlando, Fla., that has since grown to include more than 5,000 men worldwide.

The 330 area directors will be located throughout the United States. Each will have a territory of about 1,000 churches and will be trained in raising funds to support the ministry in their area, as well as every aspect of what Man in the Mirror has learned in 25 years of fine-tuning men’s discipleship.

Churches that implement Man in the Mirror’s “No Man Left Behind” model have an average 48 percent increase in the number of men attending their church and an 84 percent increase in the number of men involved in discipleship in just two-and-a-half years.

Morley concludes, “I’m so thankful that 40 years ago, a few men in my church saw a young man who desperately needed to be discipled, and they took action. Every man deserves an opportunity to learn how he can become the man God created him to be.”
