Marilyn Hickey Reports ‘Unusual Miracles’ During Muslim Indonesia Meetings

I’ve just spent three weeks in Indonesia ministering in four different churches throughout Jakarta and Solo. This was my 10th trip to this wonderful country, which is known as an archipelago nation. With more than 17,000 islands, 6,000 are inhabited.  

Indonesia is the fourth most-populated country and reportedly is known as the largest Muslim country in the world, yet it has had continual revival for years. I find the people are open to the gospel, especially to healing and miracles.

During this trip, I ministered from my study guide, entitled Seeing Jesus Bible Encounter, where you perceive Jesus in every book of the Bible. The teaching and study guide were received with enthusiasm. I love that they are so hungry for the Word. I was able to provide the study guide in their common language, and it will continue to be used throughout the nation.

The thing that especially touched me was a young pastor in Solo who is 33 years old. He was raised a Buddhist but became a Christian at the age of 12, where he was invited to church and heard the audible voice of God for the first time, and God called him to become a pastor. God again called him in his late teens after a brief rebellious period. In Asia, pastors do more than pastor. This man felt he should become a medical doctor and was attending school, but his plan seemed thwarted by a virus that caused him to lose the feeling in his legs as well as his feet. The same affliction affected his brothers, and their doctor told him he would be paralyzed within a few weeks.

He received no faith teaching of any kind but took Mark 11:23 literally into his life. He said, “If I can speak to mountains and they will move, I can speak to my legs and feet, and they will move.” A Christian friend came to his home, and for two weeks they began to speak to his legs and feet to be healed. Nothing seemed to be happening, but he kept confessing the Word.

There were many days where he had no money to take the bus to school and had to walk. But now, with the condition of his legs, he felt he had to return to school and take the bus. As he approached the campus, he heard the Holy Spirit say, “Jump.” It was a distance to jump from the bus to the curb, but he obeyed, and immediately his legs and feet gained strength and he was healed. He ran all the way to his classroom but did not stop there. He ran up and down the three floors in the building, praising God for his healing. At 23, he received this unusual miracle.

This kind of Muslim faith amazes me.

A Muslim woman came to one of the meetings who was completely blind. During a word of knowledge, she stood in faith for her healing and began to see light and images.

When I go to these countries, I can feel exhausted from the schedule sometimes. But I’ve found that it’s not my name that heals the sick, but the name of Jesus. It’s not what I feel, but what I know. Jesus saves and heals.

In all the services, many came forward for salvation. I have seen this often in all the times I have gone to Indonesia, which spans over 18 years. These are Sunni Muslims, which in Indonesia are extremely open to the gospel. The government is not harsh against Christians. I encourage everyone to pray for the revealing of Jesus in Muslim countries. At least one-fifth of the world’s population is Islamic.

I had a wonderful experience in a lovely Chinese restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia. At the table next to us was a man seated in a straight chair. He was paralyzed. The Lord said to me, “Go and pray for his healing.” Now, I speak no Indonesian, so I asked some of my friends at the table to go with me to see if they would allow me to pray for him. The man said yes. So with an interpreter, I prayed for his healing and for everyone at the table to experience Jesus. I did not see visible results at the time, but when we went to leave and pay our bill, they had paid it for us. It’s amazing how they respond to love and prayer in the name of Jesus.

In Indonesia, all ages respond to the gospel. The young are getting saved and getting powerful in their witness and prayer life. The middle-aged and older are just as responsive. You see all ages come forward in an altar call.

Indonesians love to pray. I believe their prayer and fasting is bringing great breakthrough in their country. There is much opportunity, and I believe Indonesian believers will not only affect their own country, but other Muslim countries around the world. I took an Indonesian pastor with me to one of my Pakistan healing meetings in 2004. He has returned many times and now and has 48 churches in Pakistan.

I have also had opportunity in Iran and was recently there in November, and I plan to go back in September. I believe Iran is going to have a visitation of the Holy Spirit. I am planning to return to speak in a university together with a mullah who is educated in Islamic theology and sacred law. My plan is to share teachings of healing in the Bible. God is good and magnificent to open powerful doors in this time.

One thing I know: Jesus loves the lost.
