After Hours Trapped in Car, Woman Claims Prayer Saved Her Life
Cassandra Wiggins, 39, lay unconscious for nine hours after a car wreck on a Kansas City, Missouri, interstate—and prayer may have saved her life.
According to KSHB TV, she was driving to work when her car hydroplaned and landed in an embankment invisible from the highway. The station reports she was trapped in her car without any help.
Anita Finney, Wiggins’ mother, started praying when she got a call from her daughter’s work saying she didn’t come in.
“It’s a mother’s gut and the Holy Spirit that told me that there was something seriously wrong, and by that point, I could just start praying that the Lord would save her until I found her,” Finney told KSHB.
When Wiggins woke up, she called 911.
“I really kept extremely calm through the help of the Holy Spirit until I saw the car and then I lost it,” Finneys said.
Although Wiggins suffered a displaced hip, her mother says faith got them through. Wiggins’ father spoke to KCTV News after her hip surgery.
“She said, ‘Daddy, I thought at first I was going to die, then I just kept praying,’ ” her father, Robert Wiggins said. “That’s what we taught Cass from early childhood, and that’s what she did and the Lord answered her prayer. So we’re grateful.”
