Meet the Actor Playing David in Upcoming ‘David and Goliath’ Movie
A heretofore unknown actor has been casted in the lead role as David in the latest much-anticipated movie Bible flick David and Goliath.
The casting directors casted in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and London to find the right actor to play David. Over 4,000 actors submitted to play the role.
“We wanted to find the director, Tim Chey, a phenomenal actor,” says Kelly Jacobs, who helped cast the film in LA, “so we casted a wide net around the world.”
The net ended up catching Miles Sloman, a young, up-and-coming actor in London.
“When Miles auditioned,” says Tim Chey, “I knew instantly he was the one. This was the young King David who could defeat the giant warrior. He showed a lot of courage on the set even falling off a donkey when the helicopter came too close.”
The film just wrapped principal photography in North Africa and in studios in London.
David and Goliath looks at one of the most powerful and beloved Bible stories of all time. The film will focus on the early life of David who fought against the Philistine giant, Goliath, against all odds.
The epic film comes at a perfect time. Hollywood is embracing faith-based films as of late and the audiences are growing at a record pace according to reports.
David and Goliath is set for a March 2015 nationwide theatrical release.
Chey is no stranger to shooting in foreign territories. He just produced the $20 million film Freedom—starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Sharon Leal and William Sadler—shot on the Amistad, and Epic Journey, which took him to 29 countries.
