The Luis Palau Association, in cooperation with hundreds of leaders representing more than 1,200 churches in the New York City area, has secured a permit from the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation to host NY CityFest with Luis Palau, a massive free festival to be held at Central Park’s Great Lawn on Saturday, July 11, 2015.

“We’re so honored to join with the faith community in New York City to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ at this renowned location,” says Kevin Palau, president of the Luis Palau Association. “It has been such a joy to help celebrate and grow the gospel movement that is taking place here in the New York City metro area. God is doing something special in this city, and to be able to hold this major festival in the city’s ‘living room’ is a dream.”

NY CityFest with Luis Palau will feature performances by national recording artists from a variety of musical genres, in addition to performers from the New York metro area. World-renowned evangelist Luis Palau will present a special message to the 60,000 people expected to attend the one-day event. The festival’s attractions will reflect the city’s religious diversity, as more than 1,200 churches of all denominations and ethnic backgrounds, from across five boroughs, New Jersey and Connecticut, have come together to create the event.

The July 11 NY CityFest in Central Park will mark the culmination of hundreds of smaller neighborhood outreaches and events that began in the city last September. One ongoing outreach is NY CityServe, with the Palau organization working alongside the churches of New York to build unity and proclaim the gospel through acts of love and service to the poor, marginalized, addicted, and to victims of human trafficking. Since the launch of NY CityServe, tens of thousands of New Yorkers have already been touched by the collaborative efforts of church, nonprofit and civic leaders. More events have been planned leading up to the festival, and through 2015.

NY CityFest with Luis Palau and NY CityServe are being planned and facilitated by a local executive committee led by co-chairs Rev. A.R. Bernard (Christian Cultural Center), Bob Doll (Nuveen Asset Management) and Bishop Hector Bonano (CONLICO), Jennifer Jones Austin (CEO of Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies) among several dozen other church, civic, nonprofit and business leaders.
