Ben Carson: Being Gay Is ‘Absolutely’ a Choice
The potential presidential candidate is making waves for his comments to CNN about homosexuality being a choice.
Though arguments have been made equating the fight for gay rights to that of the civil rights movement, Dr. Ben Carson tells CNN’s Chris Cuomo the two are in no way similar because one of them is a choice.
“It’s not the same situation,” Carson says. “Because people have no control over their race, for instance.”
“You think they have control over their sexuality?” Cuomo asks.
“Absolutely.”
Carson justifies this with talks of prison.
“Because a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight—and when they come out, they’re gay. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question,” Carson says.
