Planet Fitness Cancels Woman’s Membership for Complaining About Transgender Man in Restroom
Planet Fitness cancelled a Midland, Michigan woman’s membership because she was concerned that a transgender was using the women’s locker room. Yvette Cormier was notified that she was no longer welcome because she called the transgender a “man” as she lodged a complaint.
Sports minister Steve McConkey knew in 2003 that when he fought the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for allowing transgenders in the Olympics, a door would open up for more confusion.
Then, he fought the United States Olympic Committee’s LGBT policies in 2013 and the IOC for the same policies in 2014, as he believed that Christians who believe homosexuality is a sin would be discriminated against. Steve has been the only sports minister publicly taking on these issues.
“Planet Fitness is policing people who do not want to be compromised by transgenders,” states McConkey. “Christians need to pray as there is more to come. Sports ministries and churches think they will be exempt, but they will eventually be forced to accept homosexuality. Thirty-three state high school leagues now allow transgenders to be on any team they want. Now you go to the gym down the street and have gender-confused people in the locker room.”
Planet Fitness is based in Newington, New Hampshire. In marketing, they call themselves the “Judgement Free Zone” as they target beginning and casual users. They have over 900 locations in the United States.
McCall Gosselin, public relations director for Planet Fitness, issued a statement that said “Planet Fitness is committed to creating a non-intimidating, welcoming environment for our members. Our gender identity non-discrimination policy states that members and guests may use all gym facilities based on their sincere self-reported gender identity.”
