Meeting the Spiritual Needs of Cuba
Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH), an audio Bible ministry, began working in Cuba 15 years ago. After forming a partnership with the Bible Commission and other organizations, FCBH now provides audio Bibles in all 15 provinces of Cuba.
With the resumption of diplomatic relations with the U.S. and Pope Francis’ upcoming visit, Cuba is more open to receive God’s Word than it has been in many years.
But representatives of FCBH who have worked there advise other North American ministries to do their homework and establish strong relationships in Cuba, which already has a strong and determined church, before assessing its spiritual and practical needs.
Faith Comes By Hearing, which provides audio versions of the Bible to people around the world, draws its name from Romans 10:17: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
The ministry, founded in 1972 as a lending library of Christian tapes in English, now offers Bible recordings in more than 900 languages spoken or signed by 5.7 billion people—three-fourths of the world’s population.
