Weekend Produces a Stack of These

For the presidential campaigns, with just three weeks remaining before the first nominating contest in Iowa, you can tell the pressure is building.

That much was clearly evident with six new polls released over the weekend, and one more released early Monday morning. And while nothing has really changed with the results of these polls, it does confirm at least one major storyline for the GOP candidates:

Iowa is a tossup; everywhere else, Donald Trump is running away with the nomination.

FOX News got the ball rolling Friday evening with three new polls charting the views of Republican voters in Iowa, New Hampshire and nationally. In Iowa, Cruz leads Trump 27-23, while Marco Rubio trails at 15 percent.

In New Hampshire, the FOX News poll found Trump leading Rubio, 33-15, with Cruz trailing at 12 percent. Nationally, Trump leads Cruz, 35-20, with Rubio in third place at 13 percent, and Dr. Ben Carson at 10 percent.

No other candidates scored above single digits in any of the polls. The state polls had margins of error of 4 and 3.5 points, respectively, while the national poll had a margin of error of 3 points.

Saturday, Reach Communications, a right-of-center polling organization, released its latest poll of likely New Hampshire voters that found Trump’s lead was nearly 20 points each over Jeb Bush, John Kasich and Chris Christie. Trump had 31.7 percent, while the others were bunched together at 11.9, 11.8 and 11.0 percent, respectively.

Cruz came in fifth at 9.7 percent, while Rubio was in sixth at 8.9 percent. The poll had a margin of error of 3.1 points.

Sunday morning, NBC News, the Wall Street Journal, and the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion released two new polls from Iowa and New Hampshire. In Iowa, the poll found Cruz with a similar 4-point lead, 28-24, over Trump. Rubio came in at 13 percent, and Carson at 11 percent.

In New Hampshire, the poll found Trump had a 16-point lead over Rubio, 30-14, with Christie in third at 12 percent. Cruz came in fourth at 10 percent. The polls’ margins of error were 4.6 and 4.1 points, respectively.

Monday morning, Investor’s Business Daily released a new national poll that showed Trump’s lead growing and field under him shuffling. In the poll, Trump now leads Cruz by 16 points, 34-18, with no other candidate scoring above 10 percent. The poll had a margin of error of 4.9 points.
