Marco Rubio Says He’s Standing Up For You In Latest TV Spot
Presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and his campaign announced a new TV ad that began airing Tuesday in Iowa.
In the 30-second spot, titled “Listening,” Rubio explains why he believes “Washington is broken.” He also promises, as president, he will “take on runaway government and special interests.”
“Washington is broken and both parties are to blame,” he says in the ad. “But it will never get better if we keep sending people to Washington who will say or do anything to get elected. It is time for a president who will stand up to runaway government and fight Washington special interests in both parties.
“I tell people all the time: America doesn’t owe me anything, but I have a debt to America I can never repay.”
The new ad is part of an all-out media blitz the Rubio campaign has launched since just after the Christmas holiday. But if his campaign’s numbers are accurate, it pales in comparison to what has been spent to attack him.
In a fundraising email sent to supporters Tuesday morning, Rubio said $22 million has been spent attacking him, most of it in the early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire. He also pointed the finger of blame at the Republican Party establishment, although his recent endorsements seem to suggest he’s won key support from that segment of the GOP base, as well.
