Ted Cruz Completes Campaign Milestone Just Hours Before Iowa Caucus
Going into the day, only two of the presidential candidates had completed a “Fully Grassley,” having visited all 99 counties in Iowa ahead of the first-in-the-nation caucus on Monday night.
Ted Cruz just became the third.
The Texas senator has been engaged in a final push leading up to the caucus, holding more than 30 events across 22 counties. His most recent stop at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson ensured he had held at least one event in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.
“It has been incredible to travel across the state of Iowa and meet thousands of Iowans who come out to our events,” Cruz said of the milestone. “This would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the men and women on this campaign. Conservatives in Iowa and all over this country are coalescing behind our campaign. We are seeing amazing momentum because America is ready for an honest and principled conservative that will stand up and lead the fight for the values that are important to this country.”
The Full Grassley was perfected by U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, who has completed a 99-county tour of the state every year he has been in the Senate. The other candidates to have completed a Full Grassley were former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum.
