Popular Porn Site Tries to Justify Sin With Charitable Campaign

A popular porn site launched a recent campaign to save the whales, according to the Washington Post, justifying sin by promoting creation care.  

For every 2,000 videos watched, Pornhub will donate one cent to a nonprofit dedicated to saving the whales, The Post reports. 

“I thought it a fitting tribute to the charitable role of a segment of society that does not typically receive credit for its activities, or its philanthropy,” said Kenneth Balcomb, president of Moclips and executive director of the Center for Whale Research. 

“Given what we have now learned about the sex lives of many species of whales, they would probably chuckle over any eyebrows raised by the humans’ concern for how other people live. Humans did not invent sex.” 

While creation care is a biblical mandate according to Genesis 1, it should not lead to moral compromise.  

Pornography is the church’s “dirty little secret.”  

According to a Barna Group study, more than 57 percent of pastors currently struggle with pornography addiction or had a previous addiction. More than a fifth of youth pastors surveyed say they struggle currently. 

Charisma News previously reported that studies indicate that at least 70 percent of American men and 30 percent of American women regularly view online pornography. The numbers aren’t much better among Christians, with a 2011 ChristiaNet survey finding that 50 percent of Christian men and 20 percent of Christian women regularly use porn. 

Pornography so saturates modern culture that one of the original dirty magazines, Playboy, decided to drop nudity from its content because “That battle has been fought and won. You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free.” 

Though many Christians are currently addicted, and may find the “Save the whales!” offer a reason to watch, pastors are pleading with congregations around the country to seek freedom.  

Pastor Jay Dennis, author of Our Hardcore Battle Plan, believes the enemy has fooled people into thinking they can have both a good Christian walk and a hidden sexual life. 

“Jesus Christ came and lived a perfect life, faced every temptation that we face, went to the cross, died for our sin and He rose from the dead so that we wouldn’t have to be the way we are, that we could change, that we wouldn’t have to give in to our sinful natures,” Dennis says.
