Liberate Network Dissolves Following Tullian Tchividjian Scandals
Tullian Tchividjian’s Liberate Network will dissolve, according to a statement from the board of directors.
“The remaining board members of the recently launched Liberate Network have decided to cancel the 2017 Liberate Conference and dissolve the organization. Those that had registered for the conference will be issued full refunds as soon as possible,” the statement reads.
“We’d like to thank those that have stood alongside Liberate in championing the message of ‘God’s inexhaustible grace for an exhausted world.’ However, it is in the best interest of that very message—which is bigger than any network and any man—for Liberate to come to an end.”
Half the board resigned earlier this month when Tchividjian confessed to another extra-marital affair and was fired from Willow Creek Church.
Tchividjian previously resigned as senior pastor of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church after he and his wife, Kim, had dual affairs.

“I’d like to address some errors in some of the things being reported since I’ve taken over media relations for Tullian,” said Hunter Frederick of Frederick & Associates. “This so-called second affair happened in 2014 not after his initial relationship last year. Tullian has continued to seek out biblical counsel for his sin. Additionally, the Elder board at Coral Ridge did not advise Tullian to keep this matter away from his wife. They advised him to be cautious in how he told his wife considering there were children involved.”
After Tchividjian’s resignation, Liberate temporarily closed and canceled their conference.
Then, Liberate announced it was relaunching as what Labby called a “message”-based ministry, rather than a “messenger”-based ministry, focused around Tchividjian. It is a resource ministry whose mission is “to connect God’s inexhaustible grace to an exhausted world” through multimedia, according to its website.
Now, though, the ministry has met its end. For people who’d registered for the upcoming conference, Liberate will issue refunds.
