Fox renewed 'Lucifer' for another season.

‘Lucifer’ Takes Parting Shot at Christians: God Has a Wife

The season finale of Fox’s Lucifer, titled “Take Me Back to Hell,” offers many surprising twists and turns. But the most interesting revelations in a show that blurs the lines between good and evil by glorifying the devil and featuring the downfall of an angel are the ecclesiastical. And here the show, again, manages to offend Christians.

After a full season of Lucifer’s angel brother Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) falling from grace (manipulating people leading to deaths, having sex with a demon, beating up Lucifer) in his God-given quest to send Lucifer back to Hell, he realizes the error of his ways and teams up with Lucifer to try to make things right. So we have “good” and “evil” working together side by side.

Per usual, Lucifer (Tom Ellis) is shown to be the selfless, sympathetic character. As Lucifer lies dying from a gunshot wound, the devil prays to God (his Dad) to save his partner, Detective Chloe, offering his life for hers. He’s just a harmless bad boy with a heart of gold trying to do what’s right. The life ebbs from him and he goes back to hell, “Home sweet home.”

Lucifer: I don’t know if this is all part of the plan. Or if You can even hear me. But if You’re up there… Dad… I need a favor. I’ll be the son You always wanted me to be. I’ll do as You ask. Go where You want me to. I… In exchange, all I ask is… Is that you protect Chloe. Home, sweet home. … (Chains clinking) That can’t be right. It’s open. This isn’t possible.

But the big shock comes when Lucifer is brought back to life. His offer is accepted by God, Chloe is safe, but his mission on Earth now is to find his mother who has escaped from hell.

Lucifer: I spoke to Dad.

Amenadiel: Excuse me?

Lucifer: Yeah. I offered Him my services in exchange F… Well, that doesn’t really matter. He accepted.

Amenadiel: He replied to you.

Lucifer: MMM. Well, not in words. But His message was clear.

Amenadiel: And what does Father want?

Lucifer: Someone’s escaped from hell. Must’ve seen a window of opportunity whilst you were incapacitated. I think He wants me to bring our jailbird back.

Amenadiel: That’s it? Well, it shouldn’t be too hard to track down a single errant soul. You’re afraid.

Lucifer: MMM. (Expletive) right I am.

Amenadiel: Right, but you’re never afraid. Who could possibly scare you, brother? Lucifer… Who escaped hell?

Lucifer: Mum.

So the season finale ends with us finding out God had a wife or some sort of a woman who is a mother to Lucifer, Amenadiel, and presumably all the angels, demons and rest of creation. For some reason, God’s terrifying wife was banished to hell and has now escaped to wreak havoc. Gee, next season won’t be controversial at all. {eoa}
