Joe Biden Can’t Vouch for Clinton Foundation Ethics
During a campaign event in Warren, Ohio, Vice President Joe Biden attempted to defend Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton from criticism by MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt over the former secretary of state’s lack of public appearances in recent days.
But, when he was asked to defend the ethics of the Clinton Foundation, he inartfully dodges the question.
“Do you think Americans should be concerned at all about the ethics of the Clinton Foundation, and has the Clinton Foundation always been 100 percent ethical, in your view?” Hunt asked.
“I think the Clinton Foundation, like all foundations, have found themselves in a position where things are changing and I think she’s going to change and adjust to the realities of how complicated it all becomes,” Biden responded—not answering the question.
“Is she clearing herself up enough with that?” Hunt followed up. “Should the foundation have stopped taking donations now?”
“Well, I think you will see them stop taking foreign donations,” Biden said, again dodging the question.
The Donald Trump campaign jumped on the opportunity to respond to the now-viral video. Spokesman Jason Miller said the fact that even the Biden can’t vouch for the Clinton Foundation’s ethics “speaks volumes” about Clinton’s “terrible judgment.”
“Ethics experts, major newspapers and top officials in her own party all agree Hillary Clinton must address the growing conflicts of interest that would compromise her presidency,” he said. It’s time to shut down the Clinton Foundation and for a special prosecutor to investigate the growing evidence of corruption.”
