Mother Sues Megachurch Pastors Over Daughter’s Mysterious Drowning
A mother filed suit against megachurch pastors after her daughter was found face-down in their pool.
Dominique “Nikki” Smith died shortly after she was found in Family Christian Center’s Steve and Melodye Munsey’s pool in June 2015. Smith had been babysitting the couple’s grandchild, as she’d done on previous occasions.
“The more we looked into it, the more we asked questions, the more questions we had,” family attorney Max Solomon said.
Another family attorney said Melodye and another women were home at the time of Smith’s drowning.
“Mrs. Munsey peered from her window and saw her body floating face down in the pool, and instead of attending to her immediately, she made a judgment call and said her soul had left her body, there’s no sense of urgency,” attorney Trent McCain said.
He continued: “Nikki was an excellent swimmer. She was no stranger to water. This young lady was a picture of health.”
Smith’s mother, Vicki Olds, says she only recently saw video tapes of the incident, hence the lawsuit.
The Munsey family’s attorney Roy Dominguez said he had not received a copy of the civil complaint and could not comment on pending litigation.
