Should Christians Apologize at Pride Parades?

Christians who further the LGBT agenda get a national platform; Christians who do not repeatedly get bashed by the same media.

Church of Freedom in Christian Ministries, a self-proclaimed “inclusive LGBT affirming” church, attended a pride parade in Philippines carrying signs apologizing for Christian belief in traditional marriage. Not too surprisingly, the media is eating it up.

The group held signs during the parade that included, “I’m sorry I’ve rejected and hurt your family in the name of family values” and “I used to be a Bible-banging homophobe. Sorry!” Huffington Post called the group’s message “refreshingly heartfelt” while saying that it surprised participants by apologizing for “anti-LGBTQ views.” CBS News wrote that if this is “any indication that the pastor’s campaign is impacting the community some Christians condemn, this church is fulfilling its mission tenfold.” CNN claimed that “religion has often been used to put down the LGBT community” but these Christians “seek to apologize on behalf of their fellow Christians for the way biblical writings has been used against the LGBT community.”

Buzzfeed, who ran the original story, gave pastor Val Paminiano, who have been attending parades for the past four years, a platform to express his disgust of the biblical views of same-sex relationships. Paminiano said that he “used to believe that God condemns homosexuals,” but after studying the Scriptures, he found that verses were “cherry-picked” to “condemn LGBT people.” He then apologizes for “the way Christians have hurt the LGBT community” praying that “more Christians will act, speak and love the LGBT people like Jesus would.” Claiming that “God does not discriminate against people based on gender.” But this has nothing to do with gender.

Well, at least there are some Christians the media won’t bash. {eoa}
