College Student Blessed With Car After 20-Mile Journey on Foot Wants to Bless Others
A CEO donated his personal car to a college student who walked 20 miles overnight to get to his new job.
Walter Carr, a college student in Birmingham, Alabama, reportedly walked all night to get from his home to the home of a client for Bellhops movers. It took him seven hours, walking down one of the most-driven roads in the state.
Police picked him up, gave him some food and dropped him off at a church until it was time for him to arrive at work. The client, Jenny Lamey, was so impressed she started a GoFundMe account for Carr. So far, crowds have raised more than $45,000 for the young man.
When the Bellhops CEO heard about Carr’s ordeal, he drove down to Birmingham from Nashville under the guise of thanking him.
“I am honestly blown away by him,” ‘Bellhops CEO Luke Marklin says. “Everything he did that day is exactly who we are—heart and grit. So far, he’s batting 1,000.”
But instead of a simple thank you and a pat on the back, Marklin gave Carr his personal car—a 2014 Ford Escape.
“I want people to know this—no matter what the challenge is, you can break through the challenge. Nothing is impossible unless you make it impossible,” Carr says. “You can do anything you set your mind to. I’ve got God by my side. I’m really emotional right now trying to hold back the tears.”
He continues: “To my parents, thank you for being there for me, for the hard work and dedication they put in to keep me on the right path. And I want to thank God because without Him I wouldn’t be here.
“God blessed me to be a blessing,” Carr says. “Whatever challenges God puts in front of me, I know it’s for a reason.”
Carr’s story has gone viral, catching the attention of many major news outlets and even people like Franklin Graham.
