New Show Wants to Help You Answer Your Biggest Questions

My company (WP Films) recently sent out a survey asking people to send us some of their biggest questions, challenges and frustrations with their Christian faith. I was expecting maybe a few hundred people to respond, but what we got was in fact a tsunami of disappointment, disillusionment and struggle. Nearly 2500 people wrote in, and we’re still sifting through it all. It is a sobering reminder that beneath the common veneer of Sunday-morning happiness and hunger lies a bubbling cauldron of fears, doubts and frustration.

My movies are designed to inspire, challenge and teach—with a dash of controversy thrown in to get your spiritual blood pumping a little. But for years I wanted to go deeper than I could in a 90-minute film. The more I’ve grown in understanding of God, the more questions I seem to have. He simply does not operate like we do, and trying to understand Him often makes me feel like a 4-year-old trying to understand advanced physics. There are some things we simply will never be able to wrap our heads around. And for the most part, I’m OK with that.

But there is another part of me that must continue to ask big questions, especially when it comes to the human experience. Jesus invites us to do this in Matthew 22:37, when He tells us to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” I’ve been in some Christian circles where the heart and soul were the only things exercising love towards God, and the mind was considered more of a nuisance. Just believe, brother. Don’t think too much about it. Become like a child and just have faith. Well OK, but even my 10-year-old asks questions.

My own curiosity has led to my newest TV series, just released this week, called Questions With God. In it, I sit down with friends, ministers, evangelists, theologians and even rock stars to get after some of the thornier questions that most churches shy away from: How should we handle homosexuality? What do you do when you pray and nothing happens? Does God even care about what you want in life? In 40 episodes over two seasons, we get deep and vulnerable, and we don’t always see eye to eye. But this is a show for those who are kind of sick of the pat answers they’ve been fed their whole life, and want to sit at a table with men and women who’ve seen God do incredible things, but who still struggle, doubt and wrestle with their faith.

If you want to join us at the table, I’ve released Questions With God: Season 2 exclusively on my new online channel, WP TV. You can check it out free here: wpfilm.com/questions-with-god-2/. And for what it’s worth, this is also the best way you can support what we’re doing at WP Films in trying to advance God’s kingdom throughout the earth through media.

I pray this show helps those of you who love the Lord, but realize that your mind has often been left behind in your pursuit of a deeper relationship with God. One thing I’ve found, especially when reading the Psalms, is that God is not intimidated by our questions. He actually welcomes them. Israel, after all, means “one who wrestles with God.”
