Todd White may be one of today’s most prominent evangelists, but for 34 years, he knew nothing about God.
“No one told me about Jesus,” White tells Shawn Bolz in a podcast interview. “And no one shared a prophetic word, no one shared a word of knowledge. I don’t even know that that was. I saw psychics and all these different shows about talking to dead people. …I was intrigued by the supernatural, but it was the dark stuff.”
When White was shot at, however, he says he had an encounter with the Lord.
“I had an encounter with a voice that said, ‘I took those bullets for you. Are you ready to live for Me yet?'” White says.
Shortly thereafter, White entered a Teen Challenge program to address his addiction issues.
“I went into the prayer room every morning an hour before everybody else got up, and I was so intrigued that God wanted to speak to me, but how do I hear His voice other than Him yelling at me saying, ‘I took those bullets for you, are you ready to live for Me yet?’ So I’m like, ‘I need to hear Your voice, but not in that way. I know You’re real because you saved my life.'”
