How God Used One Prophet to Help This Woman Start a Ministry
God miraculously spoke to Elizabeth Fook of International Young Prophets to guide her toward the calling on her life. She went on a fast to better hear Him, but she was getting frustrated—so she drove to see a prophet, who told her she needed to “build.”
“So I was like, ‘Lord, OK, I understand this’—I knew I was supposed to build an organization,” Fook says. Then, God told Fook to ask the prophet who spoke over her to help her lead this up-and-coming organization. ” … And I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding—she’s my hero, and if she says no to me, I can never show my face ever in one of her meetings the rest of my life.’ There’s so much courage attached to our calling. …
“So we go in her office, she sits right in front of me. And I said, ‘Hey, I feel like God wants me to start this thing called International Young Prophets. Would you help me lead it? The only way I could do it is if somebody would lead it with me because I have to model how generations of prophets run together.'”
Sure enough, the prophet agreed to lead the organization with her, Fook says on the Adventures in the Spirit podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. Through that experience, God taught her a lot about learning to hear His voice and walk out in obedience. She says that mentorship is key for aspiring leaders.
“[It’s important to] pray, ‘God, who is it You really want in my life?'” Fook says. “I actually personally have a small group of people on purpose because I feel like every different season, God may take one person out of that group and put a new person in. … I’m not looking for well-known people. I’m looking for God-ordained people to help me to build who I need to be character-wise to walk out the calling on my life.”
