Repairing the Breach: A Time of Recompense and Reclamation

Share:

“Those from among you shall rebuild the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called, the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Paths in which to Dwell” (Isa. 58:12).

Recently in one of our worship nights, the Spirit of the Lord spoke through the body saying there was a release of recompense and reclamation. I was somewhat familiar with the word “recompense,” but not too familiar with “reclamation.” Recompense can be defined as “making amends for a loss or harm suffered, to compensate for services rendered or damages incurred.”

Reclamation is “the process of claiming something back or a reassertion of a right.” In land management, soil that was once considered unfit for use becomes a fruitful place of habitation after reclamation. We see this in 2 Kings 2:2 when Elisha puts salt in the springs at Jericho, healing the waters and reclaiming the land to a fruitful state. In Isaiah 35:7a, we see the reclamation of the desert, “The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water.”

Ephesians 4:27 tells us to give no place or opportunity to the devil. The Greek word for “place” is topos and it means any portion or space marked off, or an inhabited place, as a city, village or district.

How many places in our lives, our cities and in our nation have we given a place or opportunity for the adversary to come in and take ground? What breaches have we allowed in our churches, government, families and educational systems?

Most of the Ivy League schools were founded by Christian ministers; however, over the process of time the church gave place to the enemy, and the Ivy League became more like poison ivy today. Princeton was a product of the Great Awakening. It was founded by Presbyterians in 1746. The first president of Princeton, Rev. Jonathan Dickinson declared, “Cursed be all that learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ.”

It’s time to reclaim the rights and territories that we have allowed the enemy to breach. I believe the Lord is releasing a recompense for reclamation, and He’s looking for a people who will co-labor with Him.
