Report: Attorney General Barr Knew About Hunter Biden Tax Probe for Months
U.S. Attorney General William Barr knew about federal investigations into Hunter Biden’s financial and business dealings for months but concealed them from the American public during the recent presidential election, The Wall Street Journal reports. One of these investigations came to light after federal investigators served Hunter Biden with a subpoena regarding a criminal tax investigation by the office of the U.S. attorney in Delaware.
“Republicans and President Trump have pressed Mr. Barr for months to pursue Mr. Biden, especially as his father, Joe Biden, gained momentum” in the presidential race, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Department of Justice did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.
In a Wednesday statement, Hunter Biden confirmed the investigation into his “tax affairs”: “I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.”
A “well-placed government source” told Fox News that Hunter Biden is a subject/target of a grand journey investigation and that “a ‘target’ means that there is a ‘high probability that person committed a crime,’ while a ‘subject’ is someone you ‘don’t know for sure has committed a crime.'”
President Trump, who has urged Barr to get involved, went to Twitter to voice his concerns, although the social media giant flagged his tweet with its standard post-election warning:
Why didn’t the Fake News Media, the FBI and the DOJ report the Biden matter BEFORE the Election. Oh well, it’s OK, we won the Election anyway – 75,000,000 VOTES!!!

Other conservatives did not hesitate to weigh in on the matter. In a tweet of his own, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., called for a special prosecutor to investigate the claims against Hunter Biden:
If there were ever circumstances that create a conflict of interest and call for a special prosecutor, it’s the investigations into Hunter Biden. pic.twitter.com/02mO1qW95G

And Republican U.S. Senate candidate for Georgia Kelly Loeffler noted that she fully supports Cotton’s idea:
I FULLY support @TomCottonAR in calling for a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden.
Hunter Biden has profited off of Joe Biden for *decades* — and the American people deserve answers about this corruption.

Political commentator Greg Kelly used even stronger language, calling out “‘the INTELLIGENCE’ community” on Twitter and adding, “Please, stop with the ‘INTEL’ part!”
The “INTELLIGENCE” community!! Same INTEL community MISSED 9/11, Iraq WMDs a ‘SLAM DUNK’, HUNTER BIDEN VICTIM of “Russia DISINFORMATION”. Please, stop with the “INTEL” part! Try “Swamp Community” or “Conventional Wisdom Community” or “what former senate staffers THINK community”! pic.twitter.com/aEMlTaeNk0

Family ties run deep, however. Democratic candidate Joe Biden said in a statement Wednesday that he is “proud of his son, who has fought through difficult challenges, including the vicious personal attacks of recent months, only to emerge stronger.” {eoa}
