A Diverse City

Every time he steps foot on stage, Christian fusion hip-hop/rock artist TobyMac experiences a little bit of heaven.

The band that backs him up on his latest CD-DVD project, Alive and Transported, and in concerts worldwide comprises people of various races and socioeconomic backgrounds. He says that reality is different from his church experience growing up but that it’s a picture of Christ’s vision for His body.

He has spent nearly two decades building bridges in Christian music, and he says his efforts were simply an extension of his passion. “If we’re ever going to truly be a shining city on a hill, we have to be a diverse city,” he says. “That’s what it’s got to look like for us.”
