A former member of Christian rock band Casting Crowns is fighting for his life after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle crash on Sunday.

The band asked for prayers for Andy Williams on social media after he was hit by another vehicle on his way to church. He is alive after being resuscitated at the scene, according to the Facebook post.

He is currently on a ventilator with “severe trauma to his body and brain.”

The extent of his injuries is unknown. “He is ALIVE, but his needs are many,” the post reads. “The doctors say right now that the best thing that can happen is for him to wake up on his own.”

“So please stop what you’re doing and pray for Andy to wake up,” the post continues. “Pray for his wife Kelly, his two sons Asher and Aiden, and his sister Mary.”

Williams performed and recorded with Casting Crowns during the band’s earlier years. He left the band in 2009. Since the time of posting, words of encouragement and hope-filled prayers flooded in, with over 29,000 comments and 22,000 shares on the Facebook post alone.

Word quickly spread to fans worldwide as online faith communities rallied in prayer.

The GMA Dove Awards posted to its Facebook, pleading with “prayer warriors” to lift Williams up in prayer.

“We are believing for Andy to WAKE UP and for COMPLETE HEALING in Jesus’ name!” the post read.

Minnesota radio station Spirit 92.9 said:

A fan of Williams and a youth pastor in Tennessee issued a call for a miracle.

Casting Crowns was founded in 1999 by youth pastor Mark Hall. The group has produced eight studio albums and won a Grammy for Lifesong for best pop/contemporary gospel album. {eoa}
