Christian College, Promise Keepers Clash Over Marriage Stance
Belmont University, a private Christian college in Nashville, Tennessee, canceled an event hosted by Promise Keepers, a men’s ministry, due to a conflict in values.
Promise Keepers released a statement reaffirming its support for the traditional understanding of marriage as between one man and one woman, based on biblical teachings. This conflicted with Belmont University’s stance, leading to the cancellation of the event.
Promise Keepers is hosting a series of events titled “Daring Faith” in various cities across the country. These events aim to discuss biblical manhood and address the challenges faced by Christians in navigating cultural differences.
As part of their mission, Promise Keepers offers guidance to men on how to respond to the gender identity crisis prevalent in society today.
In response to Pride Month, Promise Keepers released a statement expressing its concerns about gender ideology and emphasizing its belief in the traditional definition of marriage. They also noted the dangers they perceive in gender ideology and the harm they believe it causes.
Following the cancellation, Ken Harrison, the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Promise Keepers, reached out to Belmont University’s leadership to discuss the influence of social norms and popular culture on the values of Christian institutions.
As of this writing, Promise Keepers is still waiting for a response from Belmont University. {eoa}
