Ex-Transgender Teen Warns of Physical, Emotional Pitfalls of Transition
Read Time: 5 Minutes 24 Seconds
Chloe Cole, 18, testified in Sacramento in early September against a radical California Senate bill (SB 107), which “ensures that California is a refuge state for trans kids and their parents,” according to the bill’s author, Democrat Senator Scott Weiner, from San Francisco. You may watch her full testimony at this Twitter feed.
Chloe is a former trans-kid who was rushed into medical gender-transition and prescribed puberty blockers and the male hormone testosterone at age 13. By age 15, she had been approved for and undergone a double mastectomy—without any medical reason. However, her sexual dysphoria did not magically disappear, as her breasts had.
As a pre-teen, Chloe started having feelings of sexual confusion. Her parents were told they could either support their daughter’s gender transition or be contributing factors to her possible suicide. Backed into a cultural corner, they listened to the “professionals” and consented to her hormonal-transition as a minor and even the radical “top surgery.”
By age 16, Chole began to understand the full significance of her falling for the false promise of happiness her gender “transition” would bring. Now, at age 18, she is regretfully coming to grips with all that has been taken from her. She has begun to advocate for treatment alternatives in the battle to protect minors from the emotional abuse and physical mutilation-problems faced by many in gender transitions.
Sympathetic sources report that online forums are revealing more and more stories of teens and 20-somethings with symptoms of osteoporosis, dramatic mood swings, hair loss and other complications that have resulted from the laissez-faire prescription of hormone therapy to young people. Chloe-like detransition stories are increasing.
In the weeks since her testimony before the California Senate Judiciary Committee, Chloe has helped found Detrans United, a support network and advocacy group. You can follow Chloe in her journey @ChoooCole and learn more about a helpful new movie on this ideology by going to Dysconnectedmovie.com.
Tearing Families and Communities Apart
The transgender phenomenon is tearing apart families and communities. California law prohibits healthcare providers and insurers from requiring parental consent for minors to receive “sensitive services,” such as “gender-affirming care,” if they have “the right to consent to care.”
What minor has “the right to consent to care”? Essentially, kids in California’s foster-care system have “the right,” according to California’s Assembly Bill No. 2119, which was signed into law in 2018.
Now, under SB 107, the state of California will allow its foster-care system to obtain “temporary jurisdiction” and become a refuge for confused kids across the country—even if that status is only to obtain “gender-affirming care” at the expense of the state’s taxpayers. This was recently confirmed by Jeremy Redfern, the press secretary for the Florida Department of Health, in discussing California’s SB 107.
Unsurprisingly, California’s liberal, Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom rushed to sign Senate Bill 107 into law. It will now take effect on January 1, 2023.
Meanwhile, Republicans in the Michigan state legislature are proposing to classify allowing or aiding minors to go through gender-transition procedures as child abuse. In their House Bill 6454, such a “person” includes the parent or guardian of a child or a licensed medical professional.
“People are abusing these children,” Republican State Rep. Beau LaFave, one of the bill’s sponsors, told The Hill. “The idea that we would be making potentially life-altering changes to 11, 12, 13, 14, 15-year-old kids when it is illegal for them to have sex is insane. I mean, they’re not responsible enough to smoke a cigarette until they’re 21.”
Trans Surgeries Are Big Business
Nashville’s Vanderbilt University Medical Center is temporarily halting gender-affirming surgeries on patients under the age of 18, after a public uproar about their practice of profiting from these drastic, medically-unnecessary mutilations.
Medicare provides national coverage for gender reassignment surgery—male to female (MTF), female to male (FTM) and gender non-binary (N) top surgery—although it will need letters of support from licensed mental health providers and/or hormone providers as part of the surgical process. Private, health-care providers and insurance companies may also require a similar designation before such radical “gender-affirming care.”
God Made Us Male and Female
Jesus affirmed the Divine design as only two genders, when He asked, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female?” (Matt. 19:4; Gen. 1:27; 5:2). We must accept and celebrate our Divine design of who we are and the chromosomes we have been given at conception.
Human sexuality is fixed and not “fluid.” We are each unique and “wonderfully made” (Ps. 139:13-18). The wisdom of scripture warns those whose sexual confusion or concerns might cause them to seek to identify as the opposite sex from which God made them or submit to emotional manipulation or physical mutilation by others.
In the Old Testament, God specifically prohibited sexual mutilation of male body parts, whether by accident or intention: “He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord.” (Deut. 23:1; MEV).
God sees the purposes of sex, which He created for men and woman in the context of marriage, as sacred. We are instructed to “escape from sexual immorality” and “glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Cor. 6:18-20; 7:2-5).
Divinely Designed for a Divine Destiny
God told the Jews in Babylonian captivity: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'” (Jer. 29:11; NLT). The same could be said of those in sexual confusion and spiritual captivity today!
The apostle Paul taught the Romans how, in ages before them, mankind “suppressed the truth through unrighteousness.” Though “claiming to be wise, they became fools” and did “vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies.” God abandoned them to their “dishonorable passions” and “debased minds,” as they indulged in same-sex practices and endured the physical consequences of sexually transmitted diseases, which Paul called “the penalty they deserved.” (Read Rom. 1:18-31.)
“They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too,” (Rom. 1:32; NLT).
Honor God with Your Bodies
Paul also taught the Thessalonians believers: “God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor—not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways,” (1 Thess. 4:3-5: NLT).
In conclusion, I would point to Paul’s clear admonition: “You should know that your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit who is in you and was given to you by God. So, you do not belong to yourselves, because you were bought by God for a price. So honor God with your bodies” (1 Cor. 6:19-20).
