Is Kayne’s Sweet New Hymn a Sign He’s Coming to Christ?

Kanye West took his music to church Easter Sunday. The often-controversial rapper debuted “Ultralight Prayer.”

The song is sweet, and sounds like a hymn you’d hear a faith-filled grandmother chant on Sunday mornings.

“Ultralight Prayer” is an extension to the “Ultralight Beam” track from West’s latest project, The Life of Pablo. But his poetic voice is not heard in the two minute clip released on SoundCloud.

The hymn features uplifting calls from contemporary gospel pioneer Kirk Franklin.

Franklin can be heard saying, “Father, this prayer is for everyone that feels they’re not good enough. This prayer is for everybody that feels that they’re too messed up. For everyone who feels they’ve said, ‘I am sorry’ too many times.”

And beneath Franklin’s mini sermon beats the sound of a choir humming, punctuated by strong vocals from recording artist Kelly Price, whose music catalogue includes gospel and R&B tunes.

This song may be part of a promise Kanye recently tweeted. He pledged to release three albums and six clothing collections a year.
