Justin Bieber Calls Himself Target for Media ‘Bullying,’ Says He’ll ‘Meet Hate With Love’

Justin Bieber, who has been in the spotlight a lot in the last few months, believes the media has targeted him for negative speculation.

The 19-year-old Canadian singer was arrested Jan. 23 in Miami Beach on charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving with an expired license. Later in the month, he was charged with assaulting a limousine driver in Toronto in December. He has also been accused of egging his neighbor’s house and performing questionable acts with strippers.

Last week a Miami judge temporarily blocked media access to video images filmed while Bieber was giving a urine sample when he was in police custody.

The teen pop star, who has reportedly moved to Atlanta, recently called himself a target on Twitter.

“I guess I’m an easy target for some. I’m still human,” he wrote Friday. “I will continue to meet hate with love. It’s all about the music. Much love.”

Earlier this month, Bieber, who seems to be the subject of new rumors every day, tweeted, “Some of the rumors out there…you just gotta laugh. People are creative. It’s all love.”

The singer, whose followers call themselves “beliebers,” spoke on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show last year about the scrutiny he faces, saying the media is bullying him.

“I’m becoming a man, but I’m still 19,” he says. “I’m still finding myself, and when I have the media attacking me every day, it’s no less of bullying than what happens in schools—these people calling me names and saying things, and they don’t know what’s true or not. People forget I’m a human being.”
