Prophetic Minister: Why Christians Can Have Demons and Need Deliverance Too
Prophetic minister Kathy DeGraw says a common misconception among Christians is that they can’t have demons. She says that’s false—Christians need deliverance also. Although demons can’t be where the Holy Spirit dwells, they can still infiltrate Christians’ physical bodies, she says.
“We need to get back to the basics of the ministry of deliverance,” DeGraw says. “I believe that a Christian does not get delivered because people are not casting the demons out. We have a lot of inner healing ministries that have been established and people go and they renounce, they rebuke, they repent, they forgive, but nobody is saying, ‘I cast out the spirit of rejection. I cast out the spirit of control, I cast out a spirit of loss, perversion and pornography.’
“And that’s why Christians are not getting deliverance. I’m always amazed and honestly appalled at the number of people that come to my altar, into my ministry center, for deliverance.”
Even if we change our habits for awhile, if the demon is still lingering in us, then we can’t have lasting freedom, DeGraw says on the Prophetic Spiritual Warfare podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. In order to have the right interpretation about what the Bible says about demons, we need to be in tune with the Holy Spirit and not immediately believe everything pastors say, she explains.
“When we get into the Word, we need to be co-laboring with the very Spirit of God, saying ‘Spirit, Holy Spirit, come and teach me; come instruct me,'” DeGraw says. “‘Show me the interpretation. Show me what this means.’ But instead, we believe every word our pastor, apostle or prophet says as truth. And I’m not saying that we shouldn’t believe them. We need to test the spirits. … Deliverance is a lifelong process. We all have behavior patterns, habits to change, places that we can grow and adjust our spiritual walk for increase.”
