Supermoon a Sign of the Second Coming?
The biggest and brightest moon in 70 years was seen in the sky on Sunday evening and early Monday morning. Some believe the large lunar body is a harbinger for an even bigger spiritual event—the Second Coming of Christ.
This “supermoon” appeared 14 percent bigger and 20 percent brighter than normal because it was unusually close to the Earth’s surface.
The last time a supermoon graced the skies was nearly 70 years ago in 1948, the same year biblical prophecy was fulfilled when Israel became a nation.
Many people are buzzing on social media about the possibility of this year’s supermoon sparking the end times and Second Coming of Christ.
The Daily Star cites one Facebook user who highlighted the supermoon’s timing with the recent unearthing of Jesus’ alleged tomb.
“The largest supermoon in decades, and the same month that the tomb of Jesus Christ is unearthed…. guarantee that something big is about to go down.”
However, others remain skeptical.
One Facebook commentator wrote, “When are you folks going to believe when Jesus said ‘You do not know the day or the hour but my Father only?’ The scripture says his coming will be as a thief.”
Despite the differing opinions, Christians everywhere are keeping their eyes on the moon and stars to give clues about what is to come, especially in a time of such political and social unrest.
Meanwhile, others wait patiently for the next supermoon.
According to NASA, the moon will come even closer in 2034, within 221,485 miles of Earth. That, too, will be a supermoon. {eoa}
