Why Spirits of Rejection Are Attacking Prophetic People

If you’re allowing anger, bitterness or jealousy to fester, you may be delaying the fulfillment of God’s calling on your life, says prophetic minister Kathy DeGraw. You need to remind yourself of your identity in Christ: If He has called you to something, confidently move forward and filter out the negativity, giving no opportunity to the enemy.

“And the enemy is just trying to bind and restrict you in a spirit of rejection so you don’t go forward and set the captives free. Prophetic people—you struggle with rejection more than most other people. And it’s because of the prophetic destiny on your life. And the enemy is trying to keep you bound and paralyzed. He’s trying to keep you trapped.

“You have to let go of the naysayers. You’ve just got to release the prophetic words, you’ve got to release the ministry of deliverance. You’ve got to release the boldness in your street evangelism or whatever God is calling you to do. And you can’t take in that rejection and when it wants to come and try and hit you, you’ve just got to … take every thought captive.”

Another thing that plays into the captivity of rejection is being a “people pleaser,” DeGraw says on the “Prophetic Spiritual Warfare” podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network. Helping people isn’t bad, but when we do this to a fault and thereby idolize people above God, we will be unfruitful.

“Are you a people pleaser where you compromise your time, what you need to do, so that someone else gives you praise, so you can make someone else feel good? People pleasing and rejection go hand in hand. And both of them must be rooted out and torn down. Those strongholds, those principalities, those high towers, those rulers, those spiritual hosts of wickedness must come down. God did not intend for us to live in a place of rejection, but a place of acceptance.”
