Will ‘Noah’ Movie Bomb in the Face of Religious Opposition?

Darren Aronofsky’s forthcoming biblical epic Noah is facing growing opposition from devout Christians.

The retelling of Noah and his ark, starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson, fared badly with Christian and Jewish test audiences in the U.S. who complained the film diverges from the biblical rendition too much, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Aronofsky is reportedly clashing over the movie’s final cut with producers at Paramount Pictures, who have put up half of the film’s $125 million (£83.3 million) budget. The Black Swan director insists the film is about an environmental apocalypse, depicting Noah as the first environmentalist and the flood as man’s punishment for disrespecting the environment.
