Do You Know the Gospel Well Enough to Share It?

Share:

Editor’s note: This is part 2 of a series about the impact of the church in the marketplace. For part 1, click here.

As spiritual leaders begin discipling business owners, I can think of nothing more important than to teach the gospel.

I learned from Dr. Rice Broocks, author of God’s Not Dead, that very few people can or will share the gospel. If ministry leaders will teach business leaders the gospel, real changes can occur in the marketplace. But perhaps we are all a bit uncomfortable talking about Jesus in the workplace.

We need to become more comfortable with sharing the gospel.

Dr. Broocks teaches it this way:

“The Good News is that God became man in Jesus Christ. He lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died—in our place. Three days later He arose from the dead, proving that He is the Son of God and offering the gift of salvation and forgiveness of sins to everyone who repents and believes in Him.”

Wouldn’t it be a good thing if Christian business owners could teach their teams the gospel? How early in the relationship should a ministry leader teach the gospel to business leaders? I’m referring to the type of teaching that is effectual to the point of repetition. Competency in repetition will lead to sharing. Help others hide this Word in their hearts.

Rice Broocks also developed The God Test. The test is available as an app. The first question on the test is, “Do you believe in God?

This is a powerful app that helps us to start conversations about God. Don’t we all need more of God in our conversations?

Can we start this conversation in the marketplace?

The disciples who followed Jesus … talked about Him.

Today’s Scripture

“Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, ‘Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: If we today are being examined concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, how this man has been healed, be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands before you whole. He is “the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.” There is no salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved'” (Acts 4:8-12).

PLATFORM TIP No. 16

Don’t complicate your platform. The simpler you make things the better. Big audiences follow a simple message … oft repeated.
