Facing a Big Decision? Here’s the Vital Help You Need
“When it comes to listening to the Spirit and His movement in our life … I think a lot of times we don’t realize it, but we have a picture of an image of God that is someone who is maybe trying to withhold something from us or trying to trick us or trying to tease us. Or, He has a secret and won’t let us know. I just don’t think that’s the God of the Bible.”
And this false concept of God, says author Emily P. Freeman on a recent edition of “Charisma Connection” on the Charisma Podcast Network, leads us to second-guess the decisions we make.
“When we make a decision, we often worry, is this me or is this God? The fear we often have can surround those life decisions that have to do with vocation, with faith, with relationships,” Freeman says.
“As we bring our desires and our questions into God’s presence, we can them leave there and then go about our day and trust that the Holy Spirit will reveal to us what our ‘next right thing’ will be,” she adds.
“I think that’s how Jesus often taught. He didn’t give people a grand, 10-year plan for their lives,” Freeman says. “Instead, He tended to simply give them one next right thing to do. And, I believe, He still works that way today. He’s strong enough, intuitive enough, wise enough and loving enough to give us direction for our next right thing, and we can trust Him.”
