First, Do No Harm
Malpractice occurs in the practice of medicine or law in an “instance of negligence or incompetence on the part of a professional.”
Perhaps leaders should be wise about their practice of leading a team to achieve the goals of an organization.
The first ingredient of effective leadership is a core competency. A leader must have the technical skills necessary to teach and execute to move an organization forward. Core competencies are godly gifts combined with a lifetime of practice.
If a leader lacks competency in job performance, it is usually accompanied by bravado and bluster. This leader has only positional authority as the team realizes the emperor has no clothes.
Leaders should be deeply engaged in the trenches to consistently demonstrate, teach and produce. Leaders must lead the way in output.
But when a leader demonstrates incompetency while attempting to produce, even greater damage can occur to an organization.
A leader must first do no harm.

“When Jesus came out and saw many people, He was moved with compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And He began to teach them many things” (Mark 8:31).
Platform Tip No. 87
There are still many leaders who “push” their message into the marketplace with mass media. Unfortunately, most leaders have no reason to try to reach a large audience.
A better strategy is to place content where a targeted audience can find the messages.
A platform message is designed to be pulled into a life. Most of us don’t like having advice pushed upon us.
Our job is to be “there” whenever someone begins to look for help.
A platform can be anywhere your target audience looks for help.
