French President Emmanuel Macron has repeatedly warned that Europe must be ready to confront the “Russian threat” and even floated the idea of expanding France’s nuclear umbrella to other European nations. He’s already doubling the country’s defense budget, sending fighter jets with hypersonic nuclear missiles to the German border, and pushing for increased military spending.
Clearly, France isn’t just thinking about war—it’s actively preparing for it.
But let’s step back for a moment. What does it say about the times we are living in when one of the world’s most powerful nations is warning its people to get ready for catastrophe? Jesus told us in Matthew 24:6-7, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars… Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.”
What we’re seeing unfold in France is yet another sign that we are barreling toward the days Jesus warned about.
Governments across Europe are scrambling to prepare for worst-case scenarios. Poland is drafting survival guides and considering mandatory military training for its male citizens.
Sweden, Norway and Finland have already issued similar booklets, urging people to stock up on food, water and medicine. Even Germany is taking inventory of its bunkers in case of war.
While the world is focused on geopolitical tensions, we should recognize the spiritual significance of these events. This is more than just military posturing—it’s the groundwork for the global chaos that will precede the return of Christ.
Do Not Fear
The Bible is clear that the end times will be marked by fear, uncertainty and nations preparing for battle. Revelation 6 describes the opening of the second seal, where peace is taken from the earth, and men are given the power to kill one another.
Sound familiar? France’s survival guide isn’t just a precaution—it’s a glaring sign of what’s to come.
Of course, while nations are telling their people to prepare for war, believers should be preparing in a different way.
Yes, it’s wise to have some basic emergency supplies, but the real preparation we need is spiritual. Are we ready to stand firm in our faith when the world around us crumbles? Are we putting our trust in Christ, or in governments that are bracing for destruction?
The time for lukewarm Christianity is over. As we see these warning signs multiply, we must remember Jesus’ words in Luke 21:28: “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
France may be distributing a survival guide, but for those who trust in Jesus, we already have the ultimate survival plan.
