Combatting Evil: EFCA Makes Urgent Call to Prayer for Pregnancy Resource Centers

Since the leak of the Supreme Court’s draft opinion on the overturning of Roe v. Wade in early May, many crisis pregnancy centers around the country—as an alternative to those like Planned Parenthood—have come under attack from militant pro-abortionists. Offices and facilities have been vandalized, and the pro-choice groups have unabashedly taken credit for their handiwork.

Michael Martin, president and CEO of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability, says believers must band together to intercede for God to protect these pregnancy crisis centers and to sear the hearts of those trying to destroy them.

“We must pray for their protection, provision and, most importantly, that those who are lost would come to know the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ,” Martin says.

Things have gotten worse since last Friday, when the Supreme Court voted 5-4 to overturn Roe v. Wade, which had been in place to legalize abortion for the past 50 years.

“As we welcome the overturn of Roe and its asserted constitutional right to abortion, let us pray for a culture that honors the sanctity of life. The ultimate answer to the issue of abortion is the life-changing message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We know that our sin nature and brokenness are not addressed by law but by God’s Spirit.

“May we pray especially for all the churches and the ministries that will continue to work to aid women and prenatal children in need every day through the love, power and grace of our Lord.”

Care Net President and CEO Roland Warren affirmed that his network’s pregnancy resource centers and supporting churches will continue their critical work serving those in their communities facing difficult pregnancy-related decisions.

“Changed laws don’t equal changed hearts,” Warren says. “And the Supreme Court can’t outlaw unplanned, unexpected and unexpectedly complicated pregnancies … in an environment in which abortion is more difficult to access. Care Net’s work has become more critical than ever.” {eoa}
