Joel Osteen Star of Slim Thug’s New Rap Album
Megachurch Pastor Joel Osteen is best-known for his uplifting motivational messages. But he’s entering into new territory with a starring role on Slim Thug’s latest album.
The Houston rapper features Osteen on Hogg Life Volume 2: Still Surviving in a song titled, “Chuuch.” In the ditty, Osteen kicks off the song preaching about who we spend our time with.
“I want to talk to you today about the right people,” says Osteen. “Who you spend your time with will have a great impact on what kind of life you live. There are people God has already ordained to come across our path to help us fulfill our destiny. People who inspire us, challenge us, make us better.”
Osteen gets about one minute of the song before Slim Thug starts rapping, but reappears again several times in the tune. What’s the Osteen-Thug connection? Slim, whose real name is Stayve Jerome Thomas, is a member at Lakewood Church.
Osteen’s ministry did not work with Slim Thug on the project. Much the same, Young Jeezy, an Atlanta rapper who used bits from Bishop T.D. Jakes’ sermon, did not seek permission from The Potter’s House when he featured the man of God’s message on his “Holy Ghost Remix” song.
