Nearly 30,000 members attend the Houston-area church, according to the NLCCC website. The church boasts multiple campuses across the state.
The church has specific standards for holiday celebrations, New Year’s Day included. The website reads:
New Year’s, Valentine’s and even Thanksgiving are celebrated in ways so contrary to the walk of holiness or sanctification that we, as Christians, need to take a hard look at the effect these times have on our relationship with God. The acid test of all behavior is in asking a simple question: “Would Jesus participate in this?” Why should this test be avoided where holidays and traditions are concerned?
