San Francisco Shuts Down Christian-Owned Restaurants. Guess Why
The City of San Francisco has temporarily shut down the Christian-owned fast-food chain In-N-Out Burger over the company’s refusal to force customers to prove they are vaccinated against COVID-19, several media outlets are reporting.
This past week, the San Francisco Department of Public Health closed the Fisherman’s Wharf location when it discovered the popular burger restaurant was not checking the vaccination status of its customers, which reports said violated an August mandate from the city requiring indoor diners to show proof of vaccination.
In-N-Out Operates 358 locations throughout the western United States. It is owned by devout Christian Linsy Snyder, 37, whose grandparents founded the restaurant in 1948.
In-N-Out’s Chief Legal and Business Officer Arnie Wensinger told Fox News in a statement that his company refuses to enforce the jab mandate because it is not the “vaccination police.”
“Our store properly and clearly posted signage to communicate local vaccination requirements,” Wensinger said. “After closing our restaurant, local regulators informed us that our restaurant associates must actively intervene by demanding proof of vaccination and photo identification from every customer, then act as enforcement personnel by barring entry for any customers without the proper documentation.
“We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government.” Wensinger slammed the San Francisco Department of Health’s requirements as “unreasonable, invasive and unsafe” and accused the city of asking restaurants to “segregate customers” based on vaccination documentation. “We fiercely disagree with any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business. This is clear government overreach and is intrusive, improper, and offensive.”
The store has since reopened, minus indoor dining.
The company’s food containers have sported Bible verses since 1987, including cups for sodas, milkshakes and water. In a previous interview with the Christian Post, Snyder said, “The battle over souls is being waged in the heavenly. We want to be on the front lines of this battle to save the lost and bring fallen Christians back to their first love.” {eoa}
