Building upon its popular website, I am Second has released a free app to allow individuals to explore, talk and challenge themselves to live Second.
In addition to offering exclusive stories, films, interviews, news and events not currently available at iamsecond.com, the I am Second app creates a community where individuals can connect with one another on a deeper level through in-app conversations.
Users can talk in communities of support based on common interests or struggles including relationships, addiction, self-image and purpose in life, and find both encouragement and the opportunity to encourage others. Additionally, users can challenge themselves via daily content for personal growth toward living second to God.
Actively engaged users will earn rewards that can be redeemed for I am Second gear and merchandise.
“Since founding I am Second six years ago, we have seen thousands of lives healed and hope found through the message of living Second,” said John Humphrey, director of communications for I am Second. “I am Second is the expression of a new generation, inspired by brokenness, to find restoration in serving each other, loving each other, and putting each other first in the example and name of Jesus. It is our hope that people who may never see each other face to face will be able to do just that through this app.”
Already, the app is receiving five-star reviews with users exclaiming “the wait is over” for an I am Second app. Other users have praised it as a “support system I can really lean into” and an amazing tool “to engage and connect with others who are going through similar issues in their relationships and personal life.” One user equated the app to “having a help group in your pocket.”
I am Second spokespersons say that the app has the potential to bring individuals together through the powerful stories and connections created through authentic conversations.
The app is available now for download on iOS and Android via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
I Am Second, a nonprofit launched in 2008, features more than 100 films of athletes, actors, models, musicians, politicians and everyday people who have stepped in front of the camera and declared, “I am Second.” Previously released films on iamsecond.com and its Spanish counterpart yosoysegundo.com have featured “The Bachelor” Sean Lowe, four generations of the Duck Dynasty family, Korn band member Brian “Head” Welch and surfer Bethany Hamilton.
