Senator Wants to Honor Megachurch Preacher Creflo Dollar in Unusual Way
Georgia State Senator Donzella James wants to name a portion of an Atlanta highway for evangelist Creflo Dollar.
“This is a church that’s doing things in the community to make things better,” James told a WSB-TV reporter. “So many people have requested this, not even people who go to World Changers.”
Dollar’s World Changers church is based in College Park, Georgia, one of the most dangerous suburbs of Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
The resolution reads, in part, as follows:
WHEREAS, Reverend Creflo Dollar has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and WHEREAS, Reverend Dollar is the founder and senior pastor of World Changers Church International in College Park, Georgia, World Changers Church-New York, and a host of 8 fellowship churches located throughout the United States and Australia; and WHEREAS, recognized for his cutting-edge revelation and humorous, pragmatic approach, Reverend Dollar enables thousands to experience grace, restoration, and healing as a result of applying simple biblical principles to their lives; and WHEREAS, he is a world-renowned Bible teacher, a sought-after conference speaker, and a best-selling author, with hundreds of books, CDs, and DVDs in distribution worldwide; and WHEREAS, Reverend Dollar is the publisher of the online publication, CHANGE magazine, and his award-winning “Changing the World” television broadcast reaches nearly 1 billion 16 viewers around the globe; and WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God’s message be recognized by dedicating a road in his honor.
