‘They Were Ruthless’: Antifa Attacks Christian Worship Event, Clashes With Proud Boys on Portland, Oregon, Street

Violent antifa demonstrators carrying shields and weapons shut down an open-air event sponsored by evangelical Christians at the waterfront in Portland, Oregon, Saturday, only hours before clashing with alleged members of right-wing group Proud Boys on a city street, per Fox News. Police officers did not intervene in either situation, multiple sources report.

The worship event, hosted by evangelical Christian activist group FEC United, featured Canadian pastor Artur Pawlowski, who rose to prominence when he stood up to Calgary, Alberta, police in a video that went viral and was later arrested for continuing to hold worship services and failing to comply with the restrictive COVID-19 orders of Alberta Health Services.

Video of the Portland event (not linked here due to language and violence) shows groups of antifa dressed in black attacking families and children with pepper spray and projectiles as well as destroying sound equipment.

After the announcement of the FEC United event on social media, Portland antifa groups and activists used Twitter to plan their attack, per the Post Millennial.

A female attendee, who was helping give first aid to a pastor with facial wounds from the attacks, told a reporter, “Antifa just rolled in like an angry mob, started throwing flash bombs at everybody, macing everybody, rotten eggs at everybody, black paint. They threw a flash bomb into a group of kids that were out there, from like 4 months old to like 10—they were ruthless.”

Post Millennial editor-at-large Andy Ngo recorded video (not linked or shown here due to obscene language) of another attack that took place nearby “when a masked antifa ran up to spray mace at another group” and was shot at with paint balls.

Portland police said the fight broke out immediately once the groups converged but was “over prior to any police response,” Portland Police Bureau’s Derek Carmon told KOIN 6 News.

“As the groups left, there was a report of another small fight that was over prior to police response,” Carmon said in an email. “No arrests were made, and no one came forward to report any crimes that we are aware of. Police had no interaction with either group today.” {eoa}
